Pochettino leaves the club with them sitting 14th, already 11 points off the top four positions.

The Argentinian departs just six months after guiding the club to the Champions League final, after a turbulent start to this campaign.

They’ve managed just three wins from their opening 12 league games and suffered a crushing defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy turns to Mourinho, a three-time Premier League champion to try and resurrect Spurs’ season.

Shortly after joining the club, Mourinho said: “I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters. The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.”
