Tottenham suffer another big blow following dismal Champions League exit

The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been drowning their sorrows after watching their side crash out of the Champions League last night, made even worse by the presence of the Arsenal lot in tonight.

After working so hard to get into the continent’s elite competition, the north London side looked as if they couldn’t at all be bothered to contest in it and the 2-1 loss to AS Monaco saw their campaign ended early.

So, comments from manager Mauricio Pochettino (reported by ESPN) revealing his side have suffered ANOTHER blow have only darkened the mood for those from Hotspur Way.

Ahead of a crunch meeting with top of the table (and bitter rivals) Chelsea this weekend, the Argentine coach told reporters Toby Alderweireld will miss the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Alongside compatriot Jan Vertonghen, the former Atletico Madrid and Southampton centre-back formed one of the stingiest defences in the league last year.

Still, he picked up a knee problem during a draw with West Bromwich Albion back in October and will not be available for the weekend’s game.

The likes of Kevin Wimmer and Eric Dier can deputise, though his absence is a huge one, considering the might of the Blues’ attack.
