The Tottenham Hotspur have been drowning their sorrows as their season looks like falling apart, despite the early optimism that was so prevalent amongst them.
So, what better way to cheer our north London locals up than a big transfer story?
According to the London Evening Standard, Spurs are keen on Everton midfielder Ross Barkley as they look to introduce more support for Harry Kane.
Despite the signing of Vincent Janssen over the course of the summer, the club still seem to rely heavily on the England international.
With that in mind, they are said to be closely monitoring Barkley’s situation at Goodison Park, where his stock has dropped.
Amongst the Toffees in the Tavern, the 23-year-old was the darling of Merseyside, though a failure to progress in recent seasons has seen him become a source of frustration.
The report claims Spurs have made a tentative enquiry in regards to bringing the playmaker to White Hart Lane, with his contract entering its final 18 months at his boyhood charges.
Mauricio Pochettino has a good track record with young English players following his work with Eric Dier, Kane and Dele Alli and is understood to crave a player who can bring the ball forward at pace.
Would Pochettino improve Barkley? Let us know below…
