Following rumours in recent days, our landlord has come up with quite a theory. Brace yourselves Tottenham fans, he means no harm.
Harry Kane is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the world right now and it still comes as a surprise to many that he plays for Tottenham.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side is easily the best Spurs squad in recent memory with two English superstars in Kane and Dele Alli.
But is Harry Kane, despite all his goals in the past three years, inadvertently hurting Tottenham’s chances for future success?
Something our landlord always has to say about Spurs is that they lack any talent beyond their starting line-up.
The depth of their squad isn’t very good so if one key player gets injured then everything could start falling apart in their bid for the Premier League title.
One position where their back up could still do with some work is the striker position.
It was recently reported by the Independent that Chelsea new boy, Alvaro Morata turned down a move to White Hart Lane two years ago because he thought Harry Kane would keep him on the bench.
If this story is true and so far nothing has been denied, then is it possible that it has happened with other forwards too?
Current back up to Harry Kane, Vincent Janssen clearly has no problem sitting on the bench and it is highly unlikely that he will be taking Tottenham’s number nine shirt anytime soon.
Granted, Fernando Lloretene gives another dimension, but few would doubt the fact he’s a few levels below Morata. Imagine just how Spurs would have lined up IF they could have had two forwards of such quality to call upon.
This Morata revelation could argue the point, however, that Kane is, in fact playing so well that he is deterring other players from joining the club that could help them achieve their goals.
Or it could be a complete one off and show the true colours of a player like Alvaro Morata, that’s up for you to decide.
So what do you think? Are Kane’s talents inadvertently hurting his team? Let us know down below.
