Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern will be concerned about the news that one of their main men may not be included in the England World Cup squad this summer, which could have two different effects on how he plays on the pitch.
The Sun is reporting that Gareth Southgate had dropped Dele Alli from the international friendlies against Holland and Italy after he was not impressed with what he had seen from the midfielder in training.
The 21-year-old was taken to the side and the Three Lions manager told him that he will need to improve his form should he want to be involved with the first-team at this summer’s competition.
The Tottenham midfielder was nursing a slight groin injury during his time with the national set-up, however, it was not enough to rule him out as he saw some limited action against Holland but he did not feature against the Azzurri.
Spurs locals in the Tavern will be hoping that the talk he had with Southgate will help to inspire him to rediscover some of that form, as they look to hold onto a Champions League spot, whilst travelling to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.
Tottenham fans in the Tavern will be concerned how Alli reacts to the comments made by the England boss, hoping that they will light a fire underneath him and get him back to his best. However, there is a possibility that he takes them in a negative way and fails to work harder on improving his game.
Tottenham fans, how do you think Alli will react to these comments? Let us know below!
