After returning to winning ways over the course of the weekend, the Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern were able to enjoy it. Indeed, after a difficult time of things of late, the punters propping up our bar have smiles back on their faces.
Well, for now.
That’s because reports from the Daily Mirror claim Real Madrid a lining up a move for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as they look to strengthen between their sticks. The Frenchman impressed against Los Blancos in the Champions League and could reportedly emerge as more of a realistic option than either Thibaut Courtois or David De Gea.
The Spanish giants could move for the Les Bleus stopper should Tottenham fail to win a trophy, with the 30-year-old believed to be fiercely ambitious. After falling out of the Premier League title race, Spurs only really have the option of either winning the Champions League or FA Cup this season, something that could apparently prompt Real to make their move.
As you can imagine, considering his status in north London, the idea of seeing Lloris depart is a scary one indeed.
It’d be hard to see Tottenham being able to fend off Real Madrid should they fail to win anything this season. Lloris is one of the best ‘keepers in the world and Real would certainly be an attractive move.
