Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are looking forward to the start of the season and the chance to forget all the transfer speculation that’s been about.
Indeed, the Lilywhites go into the game as one of the favourites for the Premier League title and they will be eager to try and spoil the opening day party at Newcastle.
Whether they can or not, though, remains to be seen and, though they don’t really wish it to be, transfer chat is still on the agenda for now.
Indeed, Spurs are yet to sign anyone whilst Danny Rose has caused quite the stir with his recent comments making for a pretty unsuccessful window so far.
However, speaking to GQ magazine, former player Jermaine Jenas has said that he feels the club is still holding back and will perhaps try and sign Wilfried Zaha and Ross Barkley before the window shuts.
“I know names like Ross Barkley and Wilfried Zaha have been mentioned, but the prices for those players has been over-inflated so Spurs will probably wait until closer to the end of the transfer window and hope the fee comes down.”
It looks like Spurs fans will have to continue playing the waiting game this window, then, and that might not be the most welcome news.
