“Usual Shambles,” “five saddest words I’ve ever seen” – Spurs fans react to club’s big announcement

Tottenham drinkers in the Transfer Tavern are discussing the rather unusual feeling of not knowing where their club will be playing football next season.

The north London outfit are planning to build a new stadium next to the current location of White Hart Lane and could play their home fixtures at Wembley next season whilst the work is ongoing.

But the club only want to spend one campaign at the home of English football before moving to their new ground in time for 2018/19.

Currently, however, there appears to be some uncertainty over whether the new stadium will be completed in time, meaning Spurs are yet to make a decision on the offer to let them play at Wembley next season.

A final decision was expected by the end of March but Tottenham have confirmed today that the deadline has been moved to April 30th, giving them ‘greater flexibility‘ and more time to determine whether the project will be completed in time.

Spurs don’t have the best record at Wembley, winning just one of their four games there this season, so needless to say, the announcement has created a bit of a stir on Twitter…
