West Ham rock Spurs in chase for £26m lethal forward, record bid made

Bitter rivals West Ham United and Spurs need little excuse to argue in the Transfer Tavern, though the idea of a lethal striker coming between the two is enough to further fan those fiery flames.

According to Ed Aarons (Guardian), the Hammers have tabled a whopping €35m bid for prolific Spurs target Michy Batshuayi, a fee that roughly equates to over £26m.

That would potentially make the Belgian the Irons’ most expensive ever signing, far exceeding the £15m deal brought Andy Carroll to Upton Park in 2013.

The 22-year old has long been linked with a move to White Hart Lane, though the upwardly mobile East Londoners have been mooted as a potential suitor as they aim to mark their move to the Olympic Stadium with a marquee name.

Juventus are also believed to be interested, though West Ham’s bid is said to be a lucrative one, including various add-ons of a ‘significant’ manner.

Why so much fuss about the Marseille man?
