Tottenham will have now realised that more than likely, they’re out of the title race and face another season of instead trying to win a trophy elsewhere.
Mauricio Pochettino and his team still have a number of opportunities to do just that as well, seeing as they remain in the EFL Cup, FA Cup and Champions League.
Considering that Tottenham haven’t signed a single player this season, they have done remarkably well to keep their stars happy and have been repaid with good performances.
Though, this transfer window is definitely the right time for Tottenham to recruit some players again as they’re losing ground on rivals.
Having recently seen Moussa Sissoko stumble off with an injury, Eric Dier go under the knife and Moussa Dembele about to leave the club, there can be no guesses for Tottenham’s position of need.
A dominant central-midfielder like Schalke’s Weston McKennie would fit the bill perfectly for Spurs and could be a great option going forward.
McKennie, (who is valued at £13.5 million on Transfermarkt) is a player that could improve Tottenham’s team without a doubt – even if he is only 20-years-old.
The USA international has been in inspired form this season, totalling 19 appearances thus far and has provided two goals and two assists within that time frame.
With the ability to drive forward from midfield and pick a pass, Weston McKennie could fit into a variety of different midfield roles, all up to Pochettino’s choosing.
Building for the future would be a very good idea for an already young Tottenham team. Indeed, perhaps a mid-season addition could really kickstart an otherwise stuttering title challenge.
