‘What sorcery’, ‘Spurs have pulled a fast one’ – Tottenham fans react to star’s role in historic night

The Spurs faithful in the Transfer Tavern are in dreamland following their sides historic 3-1 victory over current Champions League holders Real Madrid last night.

Tottenham welcomed the Spanish giants to Wembley for their first ever competitive fixture in the home of English international football. Pochetino’s side ensured it would be a night to remember for all the wrong reasons for the travelling Madrid contingent, as they delivered an outstanding performance to record a 3-1 victory courtesy of a Dele Alli brace and Christian Eriksen.

Spurs opened the scoring in this eagerly-anticipated clash after 27 minutes following a fine move involving Harry Winks and Kieran Trippier. After Winks received the ball in midfield, he floated a diagonal ball into the path of the onrushing Trippier whose first-time volley was inch-perfect for Alli to poke home from 4 yards out.

And the performance of Trippier throughout the game, along with his excellent early-season form, has the Tottenham faithful propping up the bar claiming the sale of former Spurs-employee Kyle Walker has proven no loss to the club thus far.

So far, the decision to sell Walker for a whopping £50 million looks like another excellent piece of business from Tottenham considering the ability Trippier has demonstrated whilst filling the void left by Walker.

Trippier will be hoping to continue impressing the fans and also convince Pochetino that he should be his first-choice right-back ahead of Serge Aurier.

Here’s how the Spurs faithful reacted to Trippier’s performance last night…
