When Moussa Sissoko signed for Spurs with the transfer deadline looming last summer, quite a few Lilywhites here in the Transfer Tavern got excited.
Granted, the midfielder had been part of one of the worst Newcastle teams in recent memory as they slipped to relegation, but he was a player that had long been rated highly and was heading to White Hart Lane on the back of an impressive EURO 2016, in which he helped France to reach the final on home soil.
Alas, time moves fast in football and with a few months of the season remaining Spurs are, according to L’Equipe, set for crunch talks with Sissoko and his representatives as he seeks a move away – which they are surely likely to grant given his miserable 1,029 minutes of game time.
The French outlet go as far as to say that his value has fallen from the €35m (£30.2m) they paid to just €20m (£17.3m), and Tottenham fans are certainly not happy about the way the situation has panned out…
Daniel Levy will go down as a Tottenham legend if he gets £20m for Sissoko. https://t.co/4ghZR54qt5

Moussa Sissoko is, and always has been, a really bad footballer. I have no idea why Spurs ever even considered signing him. #THFC

Need a Chinese masterclass if we ever want to sell Sissoko

Is it just me or the attitude that Sissoko has shown throughout his career, I don’t know who at Tottenham thought he would fit in!!
