Tottenham fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are not shocked to hear in the Standard that Everton are expected to be put off of signing Aaron Lennon, after he has been given a £7 million price tag by Spurs.
We all know in the Tavern that Daniel Levy is a shrewd businessman but this time it could upset one of his own players.
Because it is believed that Lennon is keen on staying permanently at Goodison Park, but the £7m asking price may be too much for Everton’s liking.
And Roberto Martinez is in no rush for his services, so if the price is too high, he will patiently wait until another winger becomes available for the right price.
But punters in the Tavern have a feeling that Levy may show some respect to Tottenham’s longest serving player and may lower the price tag to allow him to move on in the way Lennon wants to.
Because it is unlikely that the 27-year-old has a future at Tottenham in the summer and Lennon believes the move to Merseyside has given him a new lease of life.
