The Tottenham fans on Twitter have been pinching themselves after watching their 27-year-old right-back, Kieran Trippier take Russia by storm. The Bury Beckham scored a free-kick that Lionel Messi would be proud of yesterday to give England the lead against Croatia. The result wasn’t the right one but no one can fault the Three Lions effort and passion.

No one expected Trippier to have the impact that he’s had in Russia, the Spurs defender picked up a goal and an assist in the tournament and many fans would be shocked if the ex-Burnley man doesn’t pick up the Golden Ball award after the final on Sunday. His awesome set-piece delivery and his ability to put a chance on a plate for a teammate with his crossing has made him one of the most dangerous players at the World Cup and Spurs fans can’t wait to see that again in a Tottenham shirt.
Last summer Tottenham sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City and signed Serge Aurier, leaving many fans to believe that Trippier would again be the second-choice right-back. This summer he’s shown the whole world that he deserves to be the number one and when he returns to North London, Tottenham’s number two will be one of the players that the fans rely upon more than ever now. He’s shown that he’s better than his Ivorian colleague both going forward and defensively and it will be a travesty if he isn’t a nailed on starter or the first-choice set-piece taker.

Just from the tweets above you can see how much the Tottenham fans love Trippier and can’t wait for him to start the season with him marauding down the right-flank.
