Premier League champions Manchester City have spent the past few weeks ensuring their best players remain at the Etihad Stadium for the foreseeable future.
And according to talkSPORT, Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he is hopeful that more key players will commit their long-term futures to the reigning Premier League champions.
It has been a positive few days at the Etihad Stadium after the champions tied down numerous first team players on extended contracts.
Captain Vincent Kompany signed a five-year-deal with the Manchester outfit as did attacking midfielder David Silva and striker Sergio Aguero.
Samir Nasri and Aleksandar Kolarov also signed new deals earlier on in the summer and Pellegrini is hoping that Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko will soon follow suit.
“I think it is very important for the club to retain the best players,” the City chief said.
“I think it is also important for the club that they want to stay here because they are working very well and this is a club that has a lot of ambition for the future. They understand that.
“Maybe you will know in the next few days about other players who extend their contracts.”
