Swansea City’s Roque Mesa could join Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the season.
According to the BBC, the Swans’ summer signing, Roque Mesa, is in talks with Sevilla to sign for the Spanish club on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 28-year-old has failed to fulfil the expectations that were bestowed on him when he completed a £11M transfer during the summer window. During his time with Las Palmas, Mesa had established his status as one of the best midfielders in La Liga, and he famously performed well against Barcelona last season.
However, our resident Swansea supporters in the Transfer Tavern are bitterly disappointed that the midfielder has failed to shine with the Welsh club, and they fear that he could have already played his last game for the club.
If Swansea are keen to keep Mesa after the proposed loan move, then they shouldn’t allow the Spaniard to join Sevilla. The 28-year-old’s time at Las Palmas has shown his capacity to thrive in Spain, a permanent transfer would be a better option for the Swans, as they could reinvest the money in the form of new arrivals.
