The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern think that Olivier Giroud simply must be at the Emirates next season…
Despite losing his place at points last season, the Frenchman proved reliable for the Gunners once again – often coming off of the bench and making a real impact.
The signing of Alexandre Lacazette is likely to reduce his game time even further, and whilst the Arsenal fans in the pub want to see him stay regardless, that is increasingly looking like it will not be the case.
Amidst comments from Giroud himself hinting that his future may not lie at the Emirates after all, the Mirror report Borussia Dortmund have joined the race for the Frenchman – with Everton, West Ham, Marseille and AC Milan also in the race for his signature. Indeed, a queue is beginning to form for the striker, and it doesn’t appear as though he will be short of options this summer.
It will come as no surprise to the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern that the striker, who scored 12 league goals for Arsenal last season, is courting interest – but they can’t hide their disappointment. He has been a real matchwinner for the Gunners in recent years, and the signing of Lacazette isn’t enough for them to feel ready to let him go.
That being said, at 30-years-old, Giroud needs to be playing regularly – and so our landlord expects him to seek an exit if Wenger can’t guarantee first team football.
