Chelsea and Stoke City fans are celebrating together in the Transfer Tavern after hearing the news of Kurt Zouma signing a new six-year deal at the London club, before making the trip north to sign for the Potters on loan.
It’s a win-win situation for both teams with Chelsea ensuring they keep one of their biggest prospects for the future while enabling him to get more first-team Premier League football at Stoke this season.
“I am absolutely delighted to be here finally, I have been waiting all week for this to happen,” Zouma told the official Stoke City site. “
The manager spoke very well and I also spoke to a few of my teammates at Chelsea, who had played here before, and they had many very good things to say.
“They told me that I would be made to feel very welcome here, that I would be looked after and that the group of players here would help me to settle straight in.”
Punters at the bar are discussing how consistent first-team football in the heart of Stoke’s defence will only stand Zouma in good stead for the rest of his career.
The 22-year-old has also played for France twice in his career, debuting in 2015, and a season playing regularly at Stoke will give him the best chance of making a claim for a potential World Cup spot next summer.
What do you think, Chelsea and Stoke fans? Should he have remained at Chelsea or was this a good move? Let us know!
