Transfer decision reportedly imminent as West Ham await news

West Ham fans here in the Tavern are disappointed with the Hammers’ 1-1 draw with a struggling Bournemouth side, but some transfer activity would be sure to lighten the mood.

David Moyes may be forced to add to his squad this transfer window in order to guarantee survival, despite some good form since taking the reigns over in east London. However, finding possible recruits may prove a difficult task for the Scot, as many listed above have become irreplaceable for the Hammers this season.

Although, according to reports in Italian newspaper Tuttosport, West Ham target Joao Mario is set to decide on a possible move to the Olympic Stadium within the next 48 hours.

David Moyes has been desperate to improve on what’s been an underperforming midfield so far this season for the Hammers, and sees the European Championship winner as a quality addition to his side.

As an attack-minded midfielder that loves to get on the ball and make things happen, a pairing of Joao Mario and Manuel Lanzini in the attacking third would cause fear amongst many defences in the Premier League. Although, with the possible loan deal looking to have the option of buying him permanently at the end of the season, it could be a hefty price to pay after joining Inter Milan from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon for a fee in the region of £39.5 million.

And, after attracting attention from Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United at the end of last year, it’s clear to see that the Portuguese international is a player high up on many established teams’ wish lists.

Still, with him yet to decide on whether he’d like to make the switch across to the English capital, it’s evident that the legacy Moyes has built already at the London Stadium is attracting the attention of Portugal’s star man.

Landlord’s Verdict:

A player that could easily fit into a Premier League top-5 side after displaying moments of brilliance both in the Serie A, and on the international stage.

His trickery and pace can cause defenders all sorts of problems in England, in a side that’s seen a similar player in Manuel Lanzini thrive under the guidance of David Moyes so far.
