Manchester United fans have barely got over the departure of David Moyes in the Football Transfer Tavern, when sources at The Express stop by to tell us they look set to miss out on another of his reported transfer targets.
Moyes had previously been linked with Freiburg defender Matthias Ginter, who had also caught the attention of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
But it looks as though both Premier League giants are set to miss out on the 20-year-old defender, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly close to agreeing a deal to keep him in Germany.
The managerial turmoil at United seems to have ruled them out of the running, whilst Dortmund are ready to pay £8 million to ensure they pip Arsenal to the talented youngster’s signature.
Dortmund have already completed deals for Nuri Sahin, Adrian Ramos and Ji Dong-Won and manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to add one of the most highly-rated young players in the country next.
Reports also suggest Dortmund have enough in the transfer kitty to re-sign Manchester United playmaker Shinji Kagawa, and will look to take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the club at present following the sacking of David Moyes on Tuesday.
