Both Manchester United and Newcastle United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are eager to hear the latest claim from the Daily Mail.
The publication note that the Magpies are going to face a huge fight to hold onto star performer Yohan Cabaye.
The Frenchman has been subject of a £14 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain which has been swiftly rejected by the Magpies.
However, another increased bid is expected to come in soon and given how well PSG are doing in Ligue 1, not to mention the chance to play Champions League football, our punters seem to be of the opinion that Alan Pardew and his side will have one hell of a job to keep the star man at St. James’ Park beyond January 31st.
As our landlord notes, it is not just Newcastle who are affected by this. Manchester United are also well known admirers of Cabaye and would fancy landing the creative star themselves.
United are looking to land even more top players now that they sealed the deal for Chelsea’s Juan Mata and are not the only Premier League side who have had an eye on Cabaye.
Arsene Wenger would also reportedly consider a move for the PSG target and as our regulars tell us, it is no wonder given his obvious talent.
Will he, won’t he? Will Cabaye still be a member of the Toon Army beyond January 31st? Let us know your thoughts below.
