The Daily Mirror journalist Clive Rose claims that Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will not be going anywhere for at least the next couple of seasons.
Begovic has been linked with a host of top clubs in the past, including Manchester United back when David De Gea was failing to settle at the club.
Now it is a combination of Manchester City, Tottenham and Chelsea who have been linked with the stopper.
As one of our punters notes, the most likely of these suitors would be Manchester City, who have major goalkeeping issues of their own.
Joe Hart has been benched for the last few games and after the shaky performance of Costel Pantilimon against Arsenal, quite who Manuel Pellegrini will put his faith in next will be anyone’s guess.
After the superb performance against Hull City to grind out a draw, Begovic was once again asked about the possibility of a move to a bigger club, and claimed: “I don’t pay much attention to it.
“I take it as a huge compliment if people are saying nice things and paying attention but there’s a pressure to keep performing so I have to concentrate on my job each and every day.
“I’ve got two-and-a-half years left on my contract, so I’m pretty tied down and pretty settled, so there’s no situation there.
“I feel comfortable with where I am and the management. The coaches are great and that helps me perform better.
“Of course everyone wants to play at the highest level as possible. I’m no different.
“I think we can all achieve great things here in the future.”
