Sky Sports report this afternoon that Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti has dismissed rumours that he could be leaving the Italian club for the Premier League this summer.
Recent speculation emerged in the Football Transfer Tavern that the Italian international keeper, who is second choice behind Juventus stopper Gianluigi Buffon, was being lined up by Arsene Wenger who is in the market for a new keeper.
However the 30-year-old is completely unaware of any interest from the Emirates Stadium and admitted he is happy at the Stadio Olimpico.
He told Sky Sports: “I know nothing about Arsenal.
“I’m having a holiday and only thinking about relaxing. And then there is the president, who knows what to do.”
Arsenal are thought to be favourites to land Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar who will leave QPR after their relegation from the Premier League but Marchetti could act as a back-up.
Wenger is keen to bring added competition to the club for current keepers Wojciech Szczęsny and Lukasz Fabiański as he seeks to force the side back into the reckoning for the Premier League title.
