David Wright from The Express dived into the Football Transfer Tavern for a quick pint this afternoon.
Upon his arrival, he revealed that Standard Liege striker Michy Batshuayi has opened up the prospect of a summer move to the Premier League and Arsenal.
The 20-year-old has been in stunning form this season and leads the way in the Jupiler Pro League with 19 goals in his 34 appearances.
He has now fuelled speculation by admitting he is unlikely to remain at his current side with a move to either the Premier League or Bundesliga in his sights, despite his contract not expiring until 2018.
“I don’t think I will play for Standard next season,” Batshuayi said.
“I want to move on. Maybe I will think about a longer stay if we play in the Champions League, but I want to progress as a player.
Batshuayi also revealed that a move to Arsene Wenger’s side would be his desired destination due to their excellent reputation with young players.
“My preferred destinations are England or Germany. If you ask my favourite team, I’ll say Arsenal.
“It is a club with a good philosophy, where youngsters get their chance. I’ve been an Arsenal fan since I was a kid.”
Batshuayi is thought to have a release clause in his existing deal that could see him leaving for around £6.5 million and we think that would be a bargain for any interested parties.
