Mail Online reports that Leighton Baines wants to secure his dream move to Manchester United and has pleaded with Everton to let the transfer go through.
The England international left back has already been the subject of three failed bids from his former manager David Moyes this summer.
And the 28-year-old has now held talks with manager Roberto Martinez and chairman Bill Kenwright in an attempt to force through the transfer before Monday’s transfer deadline.
The full back has started both of Everton’s Premier League games this season but was an unused substitute during last night’s Capital One Cup victory over Stevenage as he looks to complete his move to Old Trafford.
United’s latest bid was described by Everton as ‘derisory and insulting’ but David Moyes responded by saying Baines should leave and be reunited with the Scotsman for the benefit of his international career.
“I always felt the right thing to do was what was right for the players.
“All we can do is our job here. Roberto is in a new job and I am sure he will get to understand how Everton work. I know exactly how Everton work. I signed every player at Everton.
“I respect Everton greatly and I don’t want to do anything that would in turn affect them.
“Of course, taking their players would affect them but I am certainly only doing what I have to do in my job.”
