Metro have a cracker of a story for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed that Chelsea and Manchester City could be set to miss out on a top target this summer.
Both clubs have been linked with a move for Napoli’s Edinson Cavani non stop this season and given the forward has bagged 35 goals this term it is no shock.
Now it seems that the player himself has moved to pour water on speculation of a move noting that he is enjoying playing for Napoli. The Serie A side have again impressed this term and it is in no small part down to the forward who will of course have Rafael Benitez as his new manager at the Stadio San Paolo next season – if he stays put that is!
After missing out on Neymar who joined Barcelona and also Monaco bound Radamel Falcao, both Chelsea and City are frantically looking around for a forward who is world class and given the fact Robert Lewandowski is Bayern Munich bound, the fact Cavani has cooled talk of a move is even more worrying for the duo. The forward himself noted: “Real Madrid, Chelsea an City are interested in me? I just think about Napoli.
“If an important offer were to come in, I will talk with president [Aurelio] De Laurentiis.
“I’m fine in Italy, I have grown as a man there and as a player with the Serie A experience.”
Will Cavani shock everyone and stay at Benitez’ Napoli side? Rate this rumour below.
