The Guardian has Manchester City fans looking disappointed here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication claim that Citizens defender Micah Richards is ready to leave the club in search of first team football. Not only that, but he is also willing to turn down a new contract to do so.
Richards is wanted by a few clubs, but Liverpool are currently leading the chase for his signature.
The Reds have been in scintillating form when it comes to their attacking play this season, but when it comes to their back four, there are still some question marks.
Brendan Rodgers has identified the versatile defender as the answer to these issues. Richards can of course play as a central defender or at full back, meaning that should Liverpool face an injury or suspension crisis, he would be ideal.
The player himself has reluctantly admitted that he has to leave City in order to not only play games but to get his career back on track after bring sidelined for the majority of this season under the stewardship of Manuel Pellegrini.
Is a Manchester City reserve such as Richards good enough to join a club on the up in the form of Liverpool? Let us know your thoughts below.
