Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are eager to hear the latest claim from their local paper, the Manchester Evening News.
The publication report that Bayern Munich defender Dante has rubbished claims that he could well be joining Manchester United.
The Brazilian defender has been linked with both Manchester City and also Manchester United, and now it seems that he will be staying at current club Bayern Munich.
After claiming: “I’m still not (a United player). I continue at Bayern, and I thank Manchester United for their interest. It will all be sorted by the end of the month,” we had gotten rather over excited here in the tavern, with some of our Red Devils supporters thinking Dante could be the answer to their defensive problems.
However, as our landlord pours a pint, he notes that the story does not quite end as happily there. Dante followed up those comments by backtracking in rather a major way, stating: “It was said in jest. I’m at the best club in the world. That would only be interesting if Bayern says to me, ‘Go away.'”
One of our more passionate punters claims at this point that he would tell him something far harsher than to ‘go away’ but the fact remains that Dante does not look keen on a move to England just quite yet!
If Moyes is to bring in a top defender this January, who should he switch his attentions to now? Let us know your thoughts below.
