Here in the Football Transfer Tavern, anticipation is already building ahead of Friday’s deadline day bonanza.
A day where transfer speculation fills the bar like no other and Sky Sports’ Jim White, who often pops into the bar on his days off, tries not to burst more than a few blood vessels as he reports frantically on the last ditch transfer activity.
Manchester United supporters in the bar remain hopeful that their side have not yet finished in the transfer market.
While the Red Devils have captured Spanish playmaker Juan Mata in a club record deal, they know that this probably won’t be enough to avoid David Moyes’ first campaign ending in disaster with the club missing out on highly lucrative Champions League qualification.
The Red Devils are thought to have more funds to spend in the window and with only hours left, speculation is picking up about possible targets.
However one player who won’t be making the switch to Old Trafford as reported in Metro, despite intense talk about his future, is Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal who has confirmed that he will remain with the Serie A champions.
“Will I leave? No, I will definitely stay in Turin,” the Chilean international told Rai Sport.
“I’ve scored 10 important goals for the team this season but I must give thanks to my team-mates.”
Vidal was regarded as many in the tavern as one of the players required United’s season and fans in the bar can only hope that Moyes had other options lined up with just hours of the window remaining.
Bayern Munich’s Toni Kroos is the name I’ve just been told. Stand by for more information on that one as we get it.
