Metro have made a claim that Tottenham fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are rather unimpressed with following news that Valencia’s Roberto Soldado may well prove too expensive for the Lilywhites to sign this summer.
The Spanish international has been linked with the White Hart Lane-based club for a long time now and given North London rivals Arsenal are set to land Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain, it seems that now Andre Villas-Boas is on red alert and is attempting to bring in a forward of his own to help take the pressure off star man Gareth Bale.
Now it seems that the price Valencia are asking for the forward is too much for Spurs to pay and Spurs may well turn their attentions to Barcelona forward David Villa instead.
As we all know, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is rather savvy in the transfer market and will look to negotiate as good a deal as possible for either of the two Spanish forwards.
As one of our punters quips, it is not like you can really go wrong with either of the two strikers – both of whom are top class marksmen. Given Valencia are unwilling to take anything less than the 30 million euros for the player, it seems Villa may prove the more appealing option for Spurs this summer.
Given Tottenham are to land Paulinho, can they afford to splash another lavish fee for Soldado? Would you rather have Villa at WHL instead? Let us know your thoughts below.
