‘Triumphant return’ – Leeds United fans on Twitter urge 32-year-old to make emotional switch

The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have taken to Twitter to call for ex-White, James Milner to return to Elland Road after following him during Liverpool’s Champions League campaign. The 32-year-old came through at Leeds, gaining promotion to the senior squad in 2002 before being sold to Newcastle two years later in 2004.

Fourteen years on from his departure from Elland Road, the Englishman has helped guide Liverpool to the Champions League final and has broken the record for most assists by a player in a single campaign in the process. Milner’s recorded nine assists in Europe, beating both Wayne Rooney and Neymar who shared the record after registering eight assists each in a single season.

If there’s one thing Leeds could do with at the moment, it’s an experienced creative midfielder who knows how to win. As it happens, Milner is just that. The midfielder has won every major honour that England has to offer having been part of Manchester City’s domestically dominant side that won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, League Cup and Community shield between 2011 and 2014. The 32-year-old now finds himself just one game away from picking up his biggest trophy yet, as just Real Madrid stand between Liverpool and Champions League glory.
