The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern think that his time at Old Trafford is up…
Under Mourinho at Man Utd, Bastian Schweinsteiger has seemingly been running on borrowed time.
Thrust out of the first team picture after refusing a move in the summer, a move away has seemed inevitable for some time now – and it would appear that we are finally steaming towards that conclusion.
According to Goal USA, as per sources close to the situation, MLS side Chicago Fire have reportedly offered Schweinsteiger a deal that would get him out of Manchester – with the offering of a 3-year deal worth $5.5 million per year.
Given that Schweinsteiger has yet to feature for Man Utd so far this season, a deal was widely expected in the Tavern to be made in January for the German veteran.
What is Mourinho’s loss could well be Chicago Fires’ gain, though, as there is no doubting the qualities that Schweinsteiger brings to a side. Not only is he a powerful, combative, committed central midfielder – but he also has years of experience at the top of the European game – and that will no doubt be crucial as his career comes to a close.
The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are really disappointed that his career at Man Utd didn’t work out.
Our landlord is putting this down as a missed opportunity for Jose Mourinho…
