The Bournemouth fans are in the Transfer Tavern today and now they can look back at some failed transfers, and have a bit of a laugh.

Our landlord hasn’t tried to hide his feelings about Eddie Howe’s transfers in recent years.

Some of the players that have been brought into the club have looked good on paper but just haven’t worked out.

Others haven’t even looked good on paper.

However, it’s not just Howe who has bought some terrible players for Bournemouth, like any other club they have had their fair share in recent times.

It has been a historic ten years for the south coast club.

Ten years ago, was the season that saw Bournemouth relegated to league two and now they find themselves in the top half of the Premier League.

A lot of players have stepped up to the plate in that time but an equal amount have flopped and failed.

On that note, here are the four worst Bournemouth transfers in the past ten years.

Jordon Ibe

At the time of his signing, Jordon Ibe was Bournemouth’s most expensive ever transfer at £15 million.

In 26 appearances in all competitions, Ibe contributed no goals and no assists.

Thankfully for all the Cherries out there, the signing of Nathan Ake this summer for £20 million means he is no longer Bournemouth’s most expensive signing.

Frank Demouge

After signing for Bournemouth in 2012, Frank Demouge injured his knee during pre-season.

He then suffered a broken nose and a concussion in only his second game as a Cherry and a pulled calf in a reserve game.

Needless to say, he very quickly returned to Holland.

Lewis Grabban

After selling Lewis Grabban to Norwich for £3 million in 2014, Eddie Howe signed him back only a year and a half later for £7 million.

He has failed to live up to the price tag and after a poor second debut season, Grabban spent the second half of last season on loan at Reading.

He’s now on loan at Sunderland and it is likely Howe will be looking to move him on permanently soon.

Max Gradel

When Max Gradel signed in 2015, there wasn’t a Bournemouth fan out there who thought he would be a bad signing.

However, 62 performances, 11 goals and a host of injuries later and it hasn’t quite worked out for the Ivorian.

Unlike the other players on this list, Gradel has a chance next season to turn his failures into success.
