TT Battle: Aaron Mooy vs Manuel Lanzini

Despite being at almost opposite sides of the Premier League table, Huddersfield have much to play for when they face-off against West Ham United. Whether trying to keep them up is a lost cause or not, the Terriers are playing with pride and passion and, after their horror show in the Welsh capital last weekend, the Hammers need to prove they can keep up the consistency and stop frustrating fans reading this.

Still, despite their mixed bag of results over the course of Manuel Pellegrini’s maiden campaign, the Irons are in bright form at home. Finally, the London Stadium is starting to feel something like home. Spurred on by returning players. Manuel Lanzini, in particular, is finding his mojo back in etching himself as their creative force.

Huddersfield will just want to enjoy themselves under Jan Siewart, with relegation almost guaranteed and the building blocks must be in place for next season. A rare bright spark this season has been Aaron Mooy, who is surely almost certain to move away next season, is giving his all to brighten up the fans’ mood, looking Premier League quality at times.

Indeed, Lanzini and Mooy are two different, yet extremely talented individuals who are guaranteed to have an impact on Saturday’s game with their knack for something special.

Aaron Mooy

Deemed by some as “too good” for Huddersfield Town, Mooy will be aiming to do right to his reputation at the London Stadium.

The Australian international’s found inspired form under Siewart, as it was Mooy who set up Steve Mounie’s winner against Wolves last month and he’ll want to replicate his brilliance against West Ham.

The Hammers don’t exactly have the strongest defence, allowing Mooy to take his chances and go forward. Knowing his determination and impressive creativity, Mooy will look to free up his attackers and play his way in a potential summer move away from the Yorkshire outfit. Indeed, his goal-scoring capabilities are well known, and he’ll want to get back among the goals to boost his own confidence.

Once linked with a move to West Ham (via the Times) the Australia star will be wanting to impress.

TT Grade = B

Manuel Lanzini

Another individual slowly regaining his majestic touch after a long lay-off, Manuel Lanzini’s importance has been felt recently.

The Argentine’s only made four appearances since returning, yet his majestic nature’s sparked up the Hammers attack and the future certainly looks exciting. Indeed, he might not have scored or assisted, but that can change against the defensively frail Huddersfield.

He’s reasserted himself as West Ham’s creative genius, creating chances with ambitious passes not many can replicate in the team. With the fans completely behind him, Lanzini’s a man high in confidence and on the verge of creating the spectacular.

TT Grade = A

TT Verdict:

Manuel Lanzini’s king-like status at the London Stadium helps him edge it over Mooy and the fact he looks a level below the club so quickly after being linked with a move last year shows just how far the Irons have come under Pellegrini.

Indeed, the Australian midfielder might be a driving force, yet it’s the flair of Lanzini which is primed to make an impact and could end up blowing away the Terriers on Saturday.
