Arsenal and Crystal Palace will look to do battle on Sunday afternoon as the London outfits meet in a Capital derby at the Emirates Stadium.
With the Gunners returning from an away trip on Thursday in Italy with Napoli, Unai Emery will want to see his side continue in their efforts to finish within the top four of the Premier League, whilst Roy Hodgson’s side will be looking to ease any relegation fears they may still have at the club as their safety is yet to be guaranteed.
With both clubs needing to adopt an attacking approach, both Alex Iwobi and Wilfried Zaha could be used down the flanks as threats to the opposition’s back line, however, which of the African duo would come out on top in a battle between the two?
Let’s take a closer look at each other below.
Iwobi is a player that can really divide opinion at the Emirates Stadium with his performances and contributions for the side. Sometimes, he can excel and make a huge difference to Emery’s side with his creativity and with his ability out wide, however, there are times where many are left wondering if he is actually playing as he can go into hiding and be rather anonymous.
When on his game, the £22.5million-rated (Transfermarkt) Nigeria international has the ability to be a real threat going forward and has rewarded the patience and faith his manager has shown him with his three goals and five assists in his 30 Premier League matches.
However, some Gunners will believe that he does not offer quality on a consistent basis and that can leave a number of fans infuriated and annoyed with what the academy graduate produces at times on the pitch.
Paininthearsenal.com may have said it best when they describe Iwobi as a player who has it all, but just breaks down as he gets to the penalty area.

There is absolutely no denying how important Zaha is to Crystal Palace and how telling his contributions to the side have been throughout his time at Selhurst Park. The Ivorian has eight goals and eight assists in his 30 appearances and certainly makes Hodgson’s side tick, whilst his stock has continued to increase with some of the country’s biggest clubs allegedly taking note.
The 26-year-old, who was signed for just £3.45 million (as per Transfermarkt), can be considered one of the best forward players in the Premier League on his day, as he has the pace and the skill required to get past most defenders and make the opposition’s goalkeeper have something to think about.
He has been their most important player and has been the main man when it comes to keeping the Eagles in the division, even with all of Luka Milivojevic’s penalties, which makes his contribution all the more remarkable considering Palace are rather blunt up front.
Zaha, who is valued at £31.5m by Transfermarkt, could certainly put Arsenal’s defence to the test and he will need to be at his very best if the south London outfit are to come out on top in the match between the north and south of the River Thames.
TT Grade: B+
There is no doubt that both men are extremely talented and are yet to hit their peak years, which only hypes the excitement and potential surrounding the duo even more.
However, when considering who is at a better stage of their career at the present moment, Zaha must simply win this battle.
As mentioned, the Ivorian is key to Crystal Palace and makes the whole team tick when he is on his game, whilst Iwobi can have flashes of greatness, but then fall apart when it really matters, which can only be infuriating.
