Alfredo Morelos might have signed a new deal at Rangers, but that will not stop rumours about his future from resurfacing in the near future.
Prior to extending his contract, the 22-year-old had been linked with a summer move away from Ibrox with Sky Sports mentioning Leicester City as a possible destination.
Brendan Rodgers will likely look to bolster his team up front with the likes of Shinji Okazaki and Kelechi Iheanacho having failed to provide significant cover for Jamie Vardy.
With that in mind, how do Morelos and the latter, who he could be replacing, compare?
Albeit not in the strongest of leagues, Morelos has still been prolific in the last few seasons at both Rangers and previous club Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi.
There, the Colombian has proven to be a threat with his pace and “top-class” finishing in the words of his manager Steven Gerrard (BBC Sport), providing the sort of firepower Leicester need more of.
On top of that, off the ball, Morelos is also an extremely hard worker. He is capable of harrying down and pressuring opposition defenders when they are in possession just as Vardy currently does for the Foxes.
Having yet to test himself in one of Europe’s elite divisions, though, some Leicester supporters will undoubtedly have doubts over whether Morelos can continue doing all of the above in English football’s top flight.
His disciplinary record will be of concern, too. However, all things considered, signing the Colombia international could still be a very smart move on Rodgers’ part.

While Iheanacho showed signs at Manchester City that he could one day become a prolific No.9, the King Power is yet to see that. And the 22-year-old has not shown anything to suggest that is going to change any time soon.
When Iheanacho has come in for Vardy or partnered the Englishman up front, he has found it difficult to find the back of the net and make an overall impact in the match.
The Nigeria international’s game is built on poaching inside the six-yard box so, when he is not scoring, he is unable to offer much else.
Ultimately, Iheanacho has been a pretty poor alternative to Leicester’s first-choice striker and a disappointing signing after all the expectation that came with his arrival.
At 22, the former Manchester City man has time to turn things around should he remain at the King Power. But at this point, a change in scenery looks to be in everyone’s best interest.

Signing Morelos could be some gamble for Leicester, but one worth taking with Iheanacho continuing to misfire.
Rodgers knows there are not currently enough goals in the team, something the Rangers No.9 may be able to fix.
Furthermore, ditching Iheanacho for Morelos could prove to be a masterstroke if the latter can reproduce his Ibrox form at the King Power.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
