Wolverhampton Wanderers fans are probably still yet to get over Sunday’s results as their side threw away a promising position at Wembley. But, their attention will now turn towards the league as they continue to fight for a European place in what is turning out to be a terrific season.
Interestingly, it appears as if Nuno Espirito Santo is eyeing possible additions at this moment in time, as according to talkSPORT, Wolves are interested in Braga’s Bruno Viana.
Romain Saiss has made the position on the right-hand side of the defence his own in recent matches, so it remains to be seen as to why the Midlands club are reportedly looking at another defender with Ryan Bennett on the bench.
Nevertheless, let’s compared the two players…
Romain Saiss, who was purchased for just £3.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), has defied expectations since being deployed at the heart of the defence as he continues to keep things tight and he very rarely loses possession.
The most attractive thing about his game is his versatility as he’s able to play at the heart of the midfield or at the heart of the defence, which makes him such a valuable player to have.
Nuno Santo will continue to put his trust in the Moroccan international as he’s been brilliant so far.
TT GRADE: A-
Bruno Viana has quickly established himself as one of the best central defenders in Portugal after making the move to Braga. He’s strong, quick, good in the air and he very rarely lets the opposition get past him, so he could definitely make the step up to the Premier League in the summer.
Although, Wolves fans will remember just how awful Roderick Miranda’s performances were after joining from Portuguese club Rio Ave, so the Midlands club may be slightly sceptical.
TT GRADE: B+
Nuno Espirito Santo continues to get the best out of his players.
Romain Saiss really has come on leaps and bounds under the guidance of the Portuguese boss and he could be the man to take Wolves into Europe. He’s everything you could want at the heart of the defence and that will no doubt become his primary position for the foreseeable future, but there’s no doubting that Viana is a top, top defender.Like what the TT have on offer?
