This Sunday sees Liverpool host Manchester United at Anfield in the Premier League in what looks like bring the clash of the weekend. Liverpool are surely heavy favourites for the tie, however, United have only lost this fixture twice in the last 12 meetings. The two goalkeepers on display will surely be key to the match, as United's star man David de Gea takes on Anfield newbie, Alisson Becker.

ALISSON BECKER

Liverpool's second ever most expensive transfer has been a huge hit on Merseyside. He may not be in the argument for being the best goalkeeper on the planet just yet, but his performances are certainly out to force the argument. When Jurgen Klopp was gifted the Brazilian by FSG it was seen as a huge step forward for the club, as the man between the sticks has always been a problem area at Anfield under the German and so far he has delivered.

Barring one uncharacteristic slip up against Leicester City, Alisson has been almost faultless. On Tuesday evening he produced a game-saving stop to keep Liverpool in the Champions League and he's already become a record breaker at Anfield, becoming the first Kopite to go his opening 16 Premier League games unbeaten. The ability of the 'keeper with both his hands and his feet set him apart from most other shot-stoppers, and the 25-year-old has been a game changer on Merseyside.

DAVID DE GEA

Where to start with David de Gea. The Spaniard may not have hit the heights for his national team in the same way he has at Old Trafford, but no one is doubting the sublime shot-stopping ability he has in his hands. Sir Alex Ferguson made the Spaniard one of his last signings before he retired, swooping for the ex-Atletico Madrid man back in summer 2011 before his retirement in 2013, and that move is one that the fans can thank his genius for.

However, what De Gea lacks at the moment is modernisation. It's no secret that the 28-year-old is somewhat reluctant to come out and play the sweeper-keeper role that so many goalkeepers are now doing in the Premier League and in Europe. It may be because of his lack of trust in those in front of him, but the way the modern game is going, having a man between the sticks who doesn't like using his feet can only hinder you, even if that man is one of the best in the world, David de Gea.

If you were given the choice of picking between having the Brazilian national goalkeeper or the Spanish number one goalkeeper, you can't really lose out. However, someone has to win this battle, and because of the way that the Liverpool has come in and revolutionised his side at the back with his calmness and composure, Jurgen Klopp's #13 wins this battle over David de Gea, although we'll have to wait until Sunday to see who comes out on top.
