Nuno Espirito Santo has made Wolverhampton Wanderers fans’ wildest dreams come true as the Midlands club continue to chase down a European place in what has been a remarkable season.
A number of the club’s summer signings have already worked wonders in the Premier League, but this had a negative effect on a number of players already at the club.
It appears as if the Premier League high-flyers are already looking towards the summer transfer window, as Correio da Manhã (Sport Witness) reported last month that Wolves have made an offer to sign Yacine Brahimi.
So, with Helder Costa struggling at Wolves at this moment in time, let’s compare the two players…
Helder Costa has been a spectator for large parts of the current campaign as he continues to spend time out on the sidelines, with the likes of Ivan Cavaleiro, Adama Traore and Diogo Jota all ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Wolves star has had his chances in the current campaign but he just hasn’t been able to make the most of them, with just two goals and two assists to his name at this moment in time.
Many fans will agree that Costa has been one of the biggest disappointments this season, especially after witnessing his excellence in the Championship last season.
TT GRADE: B-
Yacine Brahimi’s contract is set to expire in the summer so he could be available on a free transfer.
The Algeria international has established himself as one of the most dangerous attackers over in Portugal in the current campaign, having produced 10 goals and seven assists, so he could definitely add something at Molineux.
He has plenty of experience in Europe as well, which could come in handy next season.
TT GRADE: A-
When comparing these two, it’s safe to say that Yacine Brahimi and Helder Costa are at opposite ends of the spectrum as the Algerian is regularly producing goals and assists, while the Portuguese winger can’t buy one.
It would be hard for fans and the club to wave goodbye to Costa as he’s already achieved an awful lot since moving to England. However, Nuno Santo must bite the bullet and trade him in for Brahimi, as the FC Porto winger offers so much more in the final third and his experience at a high level could prove crucial.
