Leicester City and Arsenal will go ahead against each other on Sunday afternoon as both sides still have plenty left to fight for.
Brendan Rodgers can still guide his team to being the ‘best of the rest’ in the Premier League, whilst Unai Emery will need to see a reaction from his squad following their shocking defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek.
James Maddison could have a huge impact for the Foxes in the game, as would have Aaron Ramsey, although it is highly unlikely that he will be available for the meeting following the injury he picked up in the Europa League last week.
However, it is still worth taking a closer look at the duo and so let’s compare the pair in finer detail below…
Maddison was signed by Leicester for a fee thought to be worth around £22million from Norwich City last summer and the early indications suggest that he could well be worth the price paid by the Foxes.
He has seven goals and six assists in his first season in the Premier League, which has thrown his name into the hat for a possible England international call-up in the near future, however, there is one statistic that has shown just how well he has settled into life at the King Power Stadium.
According to the LCFC Stats Man Twitter account (at the time of writing), the 22-year-old is thought to be one of the best players in Europe this season, when it comes down to the number of chances created in the continent’s top five leagues. Maddison is believed to have created 94 opportunities for his team-mates, the second-joint most, just six behind Alejandro Gomez.
And, if the Foxes are to come away from the game with any of the points on Sunday, the playmaker is going to need to be in the mood to create a number of chances, even with Arsenal’s poor away record this season.
TT Grade: B+
As mentioned, Ramsey is highly unlikely to make the game against Leicester at the King Power Stadium this weekend because of the hamstring he injured against Napoli in the Europa League and his absence against Crystal Palace and Wolves was certainly felt.
Despite the fact that the Wales international is set to leave the club on a free transfer and join Juventus in the summer, the midfielder has arguably been Emery’s best player this season with his performances.
The 28-year-old, who is valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, has been hugely influential for the Gunners this season and his contributions to the team have been second-to-none despite his imminent departure.
Ramsey has four goals and six assists in his 28 Premier League appearances and has been key in helping the club try and achieve a place in the Champions League next season.
TT Grade: A-
Maddison is certainly shaping into an excellent footballer and is surely one that will become one of the country’s top players in years to come.
However, Ramsey has been an excellent professional for Arsenal and considering that he is leaving the club, it would have been easy for him to not try and put in the maximum effort.
His performances have been second-to-none and his contributions for the Gunners have been extremely important for the club’s future, making him the winner of this particular battle.
