Crystal Palace host Leicester today, with both sides wanting to bounce back from a loss last week.

In order to find the win, each club will hope that their star men will be firing at their best. Palace will rely heavily upon Wilfried Zaha, while Leicester need Jamie Vardy to be on top form.

With their clash imminent, let's compare these two transfers...

Wilfried Zaha

The best product of Crystal Palace's academy over the past few years has undeniably been Zaha. The Ivory Coast international broke onto the scene for The Eagles and has never looked back.

The skilfull winger became an integral cog to Palace, guiding them back to the Premier League in his third full season. This ushered a move to Man United, which did not end to well. He ended up back at Palace, and has become a fan favourite at Selhurst Park.

The 26-year-old is Palace's best player by a considerable margin; one only needs to look at the club's deplorable win record when he is not playing for proof of this.

Credit must go to Palace for unearthing this talent, and additionally for re-signing him. Fans would not want to think where their club would be without him.

Jamie Vardy

When Championship side Leicester bought non-league player Vardy, it was met by universal disdain from the fans. The Foxes' supporters couldn't quite believe the club were willing to pay £1m for a player who was completely unknown to them and unproven in the league.

However, the striker had just had a brilliant season with Fleetwood Town, scoring 31 league goals in the season. But this still wasn't enough for the 25-year-old to impress his new club’s fans.

The rest, as they say, is history. While the player helped the club win the Championship, that pales into insignificance compared to what was to come.

A Premier League winner, a Premier League Player of the Season and an FWA Footballer of the Year winner, as well as well as a member of the Premier League Team of the Year; these are some accolades for a player that some fans guaranteed would flop.

Vardy etched his name in Premier League history with Leicester, as he spearheaded the attack of one of the greatest stories in sporting history. A brilliant signing.

TT Verdict:

When comparing Vardy and Zaha, it could be argued that the Ivorian is more important to Palace than Vardy is to Leicester.

That may well be true, but what the Englishman has achieved with The Foxes means he simply has to win this battle. No one in Premier League history has had the ascension that Vardy has, and Leicester must be over the moon with this signing they made.
