It could be a busy summer at Selhurst Park, with Crystal Palace seemingly keen on strengthening their wide options among other positions.
According to The Sun, the south London club could target Josh Murphy following Cardiff City’s relegation to the Championship.
Meanwhile, The Scottish Sun reports that Crystal Palace are also interested in signing Rangers’ Scott Arfield.
With that in mind, how do the two wide men compare ahead of potential moves to Selhurst Park?
Looking at Murphy’s skill set, you can understand why he is a player Roy Hodgson would be interested in.
The 24-year-old has an abundance of pace, which makes him a good fit for a Crystal Palace side who like to counter-attack.
With Hodgson not possessing a lot of options for those wide positions either, Murphy’s versatility also makes him an attractive proposition.
Not being the most productive of wingers, though, Murphy will not solve some of Hodgson’s bigger problems at Selhurst Park.
As well as in the Premier League, the former England U20 international’s goal return in the Championship was also not the best.

Like Murphy, Scott Arfield’s numbers in English football’s top flight are not the greatest either.
Since joining Rangers, however, scoring goals is an area of the 30-year-old’s game that has improved.
Would he be able to transfer that over to the Premier League? Probably not.
But again, as a versatile player, someone who can play out wide or more centrally, Arfield is likely to have a lot of appeal to Hodgson.
The Crystal Palace boss may also feel his experience could go a long way should next season be another where the Eagles find themselves near the bottom of the table.

Hodgson is definitely going about things the right way by trying to bolster his wide options.
Away from Wilfried Zaha, there are not a lot of goals in Crystal Palace’s attack, while there is also a lack of creativity.
But based on their track records, Murphy and Arfield are not the players to solve the above. Before targeting either, the Eagles really should be looking at some other names.
