TT Battle: Luka Milivojevic vs Mark Noble

Crystal Palace will host West Ham United at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon as both sides look to keep their momentum in the Premier League going.

The Eagles are coming off a 2-0 victory to Fulham whilst The Hammers managed to hold leaders Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at the London Stadium on Monday night.

Luka Milivojevic and Mark Noble have both been key performers for their respective clubs throughout their time, with both earning the right to be named as captains.

However, which of the midfield duo has a bigger influence for their side?

Luka Milivojevic

Milivojevic joined Crystal Palace in January 2017 from Olympiakos for a fee thought to be worth £13.59million, per Transfermarkt.

And, the Serbia international has certainly repaid that figure over the last two-and-a-half seasons with the Londoners.

A penalty specialist, the 27-year-old finished last season as the club’s top goalscorer with ten goals and is on course to equal or better that record this year – having hit the back of the net seven times in his 25 appearances so far.

Although his goals have helped, he has been an influential figure for Roy Hodgson’s side in the middle of the park and has become a real powerhouse for The Eagles.

With his defensive prowess, he allows the team to move forward on the attack, as he sits deep and protects the back line with his ability to stop potential counter attacks from happening.

Mark Noble

Noble is, and likely, always will be a West Ham man through and through. The midfielder has grown up with the club and epitomises what The Hammers are all about on-and-off the pitch.

The 31-year-old has been a mainstay in the side since the mid-’00s and continues to feature heavily in Manuel Pellegrini’s plans.

Although he is not as ‘prolific’ as Milivojevic is for Palace, Noble is a reliable penalty taker and one that can be trusted to find the back of the net more often than not.

He is extremely dependable in the midfield and helps West Ham to keep their football flowing, whilst being able to get important tackles in from time to time.

If there were any questions about how important he is to the east London outfit, then the decision to extend his contract further earlier this season will surely put any doubt about it to an end.

The Verdict:

Both players are incredibly influential to their respective sides and have been extremely important to them in recent years.

As mentioned, Milivojevic has both the attacking and defensively ability to help Crystal Palace get out of dangerous situations, whilst West Ham can rely and depend on Noble to help them get through any match they find themselves in.

Because both men are important to their sides, it is very difficult to split this battle down the middle.
