Wolverhampton Wanderers struggled to break Brighton and Hove Albion down at the weekend in what was another frustrating performance for supporters.
The Midlands club clearly need to make changes in the summer transfer window with things not going perfectly in recent times. It appears as if the Old Gold already have their eyes on a possible summer swoop, as according to Calciomercato, Wolves are interested in Hoffenheim’s Kerem Demirbay.
Morgan Gibbs-White operates in a similar position to the German, so let’s compare the two players…
Kerem Demirbay, who is valued at £22.5 million (by Transfermarkt), has established himself as one of the rising stars over in Germany having produced a healthy four goals and nine assists this season.
He can operate in the middle of midfield or in an attacking midfield role, which is perfect for Wolves. His passing, finishing and dribbling ability makes him a very dangerous player in the final third, and he’s able to create something out of absolutely nothing which would take the attention away from Ruben Neves.
TT GRADE: A-
Morgan Gibbs-White is one of the most promising players at the club at this moment in time and the fans have already warmed to him. But, it remains to be seen as to whether he’s quite ready to secure permanent minutes in the Premier League as he’s not exactly been amazing, with only a couple of moments of excitement coming from him.
He has a very bright future ahead of him and will no doubt play a big part for the club, but bringing in someone who’s already excelling at another club makes more sense at this moment in time.
TT GRADE: B
Demirbay is clearly winning this battle at the moment as he’s constantly been able to grind out quality performances over in Germany.
He offers everything Wolves could want in an attacking midfielder and he still has his best years ahead of him, so Fosun really should pay the price to bring him to England this summer.
