Southampton will be looking to add to some of the fantastic results they have had in the Premier League under Ralph Hasenhuttl when they take on Crystal Palace at home on Wednesday.
The successor of Mark Hughes most recently guided the Saints to a 2-1 victory over Everton following previous wins against Leicester City and Arsenal to continue the revival at St. Mary’s.
And at the heart of that revival has been Nathan Redmond, who has been excellent in recent weeks after enduring a very difficult period at the club.
How, though, does the 24-year-old compare to another in-form man in Andros Townsend?
The biggest takeaway from Hasenhuttl’s time at St. Mary’s so far is how much better Southampton players are now playing with Redmond being the epitome of that improvement.
With the England international constantly looking to take on players and fire shots towards goal, it may just be a confidence problem Hasenhuttl has managed to solve.
Yet with the way Redmond is currently performing, alongside someone like James Ward-Prowse, it would not be a surprise if it is more than that and Hasenhuttl has coached them into being better footballers in such a short space of time.
Whatever the case, it bodes well for both Southampton and Redmond, who is starting to look like the player who used to put in plenty of bright displays for Norwich City, Birmingham City and the Saints during the earlier stages of his career at St. Mary’s.

Like Redmond, Townsend comes into the Premier League encounter between Southampton and Crystal Palace in good form.
The 27-year-old recently scored two very well-executed goals against Liverpool and Manchester City with his strike against the latter being an absolute screamer.
In general, Townsend has always been a winger with a lot of ability. He is quick, can dribble and great at cutting in from the right with his left foot. What his problem has been is what comes after all of that and his overall consistency.
However, having already scored more Premier League goals than what he managed in the last two seasons, it is an area of his game that he looks to be correcting.

Southampton’s upcoming Premier League clash with Crystal Palace looks like it could be a tight one, though both sides will be confident that they can come away from it with all three points.
In Redmond and Townsend, the two outfits have players capable of changing a match with a moment of brilliance if their displays in recent fixtures are anything to go by.
Simply put, the Southampton and Crystal Palace wingers, who are probably of equal ability, are at the top of their games right now.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
