Wolverhampton Wanderers fans will agree that their side have gone above and beyond in the current campaign, regardless of whether they manage to secure a place in Europe.
However, a place in Europe would be the icing on the cake and it would give Nuno Espirito Santo the opportunity to go out and bring in big-name players in preparation for a European tour.
Interestingly, it appears as if the Midlands club already have their eye on a possible summer swoop, as according to Goal (via HITC), Wolves have been privately mooted as a potential destination for Nicolas Otamendi.
Of course, with Ryan Bennett currently fighting Romain Saiss for a place in the side, perhaps Otamendi’s potential arrival could put his future in doubt.
With that in mind, let’s compared the two players…
Ryan Bennett has been one of the surprise packages for Wolves in the Premier League as he’s managed to keep up with some of the best attackers in the top-flight, with defensive solidity constantly being assured.
Wolves fans love what the Englishman brings to the side and his no-nonsense approach has worked wonders at Molineux up until this point, so there’s no need to replace him at this moment in time.
TT GRADE: A-
Nicolas Otamendi has been made to feed off scraps at the Etihad in the current campaign as the likes of Vincent Kompany, Aymeric Laporte and John Stones have been immovable.
The Argentine can provide a wealth of experience but he just hasn’t been given the chance to impress this season, so a move to a team like Wolves would provide him with the perfect platform to get back to his best.
TT GRADE: B
Wolves really have found a gem.
It’s safe to say that bringing in Otamendi would provide Wolves with a defender who has plenty of European experience which could come in handy if they manage to secure a place in Europe. But, Bennett’s performances this season have been far superior to the Argentine’s, so Nuno Santo should keep his trust in the 29-year-old.Like what the TT have on offer?
