Throughout the majority of the campaign, Crystal Palace have been unconvincing up front with first-choice striker Christian Benteke continuing to misfire.
In recent weeks, however, the south London club have looked much better in that department thanks to the arrival of Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea.
But with the Belgian having only joined Roy Hodgson’s men on loan until the end of the season, the Eagles could once again find themselves in the market looking to address their previous centre-forward issue.
And if so, according to Marca Claro (via Sport Witness), the Eagles could move for River Plate’s Rafael Santos Borre.
Rafael Santos Borre
The same outlet reports Borre has a release clause of around £25m in his contract with Crystal Palace already said to have made contact with the player’s entourage.
A striker blessed with electrifying pace, the thought of having to defend against Borre, Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend is a scary one.
And after failing in his last European venture with Atletico Madrid, linking up with the duo might be a proposition that interests the 23-year-old as he looks to make a name for himself in this continent.
Not the most consistent of strikers, though, and needing to improve his finishing, Borre might just not be the No.9 Crystal Palace need right now.

Batshuayi, in contrast, is probably one of the deadliest finishers in European football right now.
“When we work in front of the goal, he’s one of the best, especially with his left foot,” ex-Belgium coach and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was quoted as saying about the 25-year-old on Sky Sports (via The Sport Review).
Rather, where Batshuayi’s game comes into question is outside of the box. The Belgium international is guilty of perhaps not always holding the ball up well enough.
Heavy and loose touches can see him turnover possession, resulting in an opposition break, one factor as to why Antonio Conte probably did not trust him during his time at Stamford Bridge.
If the former Marseille man can fine-tune that area, though, then his future club could be onto something special.
TT Grade: B
Crystal Palace need to do all they can to sign Batshuayi permanently; his loan move to Selhurst Park has been a success so far.
If not, then they will obviously need to sign a new striker with Benteke looking like a shadow of his former self.
That striker, however, should not be Borre until the club explores some other options.
His goalscoring record, unlike Batshuayi’s, is just not convincing.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
