Wolverhampton Wanderers currently find themselves sitting in seventh position, while Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table.
The Midlands club will be desperate to secure a European spot in the current campaign, after spending heavily back in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Reds won’t accept anything less than silverware this season, with the Premier League title being the main aim at this moment in time.
Interestingly, Wolves will welcome Liverpool to Molineux tonight, so we took a look at Raul Jimenez and Roberto Firmino’s influence at their respective clubs.
With that in mind, let’s compare these two transfers…
Wolves signed Jorge Mendes’ client, Raul Jimenez, from Benfica on a season-long loan back in the summer transfer window, and they now have the first choice on whether to sign him permanently.
The Mexican international is the club’s top scorer with five goals, as well as providing five assists as the one player that’s been involved in almost every goal this season.
Indeed, the Midlands club will still be searching for a striker in the January transfer window, but Jimenez’s efforts certainly won’t have gone unnoticed at Molineux.
TT GRADE: A
Roberto Firmino, who is valued at £72 million (by Transfermarkt), has struggled to find his feet in the current campaign, which has forced a lot of supporters to give him criticism recently.
The Brazilian was influential against Manchester United last time out as he helped secure all three points at Anfield, but this has been about his only impressive performance this season.
Indeed, the forward has managed to produce six goals and four assists so far, but this is nothing compared to his stats in recent years on Merseyside.
TT GRADE: A-
When comparing these two, it’s clear to see that Raul Jimenez has had more of an impact for Wolves, as Roberto Firmino hasn’t been able to live up to expectations.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s main man has been the source of all things brilliant in the final third this season, with his hold up play and ability to create helping the team massively.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian needs to get a move on if the Reds are to secure the Premier League title as he has been wasteful with chances in front of goal, which could bite them at some point.
Both players have already showcased their talents at times in the Premier League this season and will both be looking to play a big part in the rest of the current campaign, but at this moment in time it’s Jimenez that has made all the headlines as he continues to be heavily involved with all things good at Molineux.
