TT Battle: Ruben Neves vs Gedson Fernandes

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans will be hoping that their side can build on their impressive win over Manchester United last time out, with Burnley travelling to Molineux in the Premier League.

The Midlands club are in with a great chance of securing a European spot in the current campaign, which would be an incredible achievement considering this is their first season back in the big time.

Although, it appears as if Nuno Espirito Santo already has one eye on the summer transfer window, as according to A Bola (via HITC), Wolves want to sign Benfica’s Gedson Fernandes. The defensive midfielder has plenty of potential and he could quite easily slot in alongside Ruben Neves at the heart of the midfield for Wolves.

So, let’s compared the two players…

RUBEN NEVES

Ruben Neves is starting to warm to life in the Premier League after a rather slow start to proceedings by his standards, with his passing and vision helping the likes of Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota thrive in the final third.

The Portugal international has proved to be one of the club’s best signings in recent years and he has all the ingredients to reach the very top, with the Champions League calling his name.

GEDSON FERNANDES

Gedson Fernandes is another Benfica product who’s made a name for himself over in Portugal in the current campaign, producing three goals and five assists from the heart of the midfield.

He’s only 20-years-old so he still has plenty of potential waiting to be unlocked but he’s already starting to look like a future star at Benfica, with plenty of Champions League football already under his belt this season.

TT VERDICT:

When comparing these two, it’s safe to say that both players are making a name for themselves and they both have all the ingredients to develop into future stars at the top level.

Wolves already have Leander Dendoncker operating alongside Neves in the middle of midfield at Molineux but he’s not really hit the heights that many thought he would, despite being impressive. So, Fosun can send fans into dreamland in the summer by splashing the cash on Fernandes, who would be the perfect partner for Neves as they both have the vision to pick out defence-splitting passes and Fernandes offers the attacking threat that Neves lacks.
