Leicester City certainly left it late in the transfer window when they signed AS Monaco's Youri Tielemans on loan until the end of the season, but the acquisition of the 21-year-old should prove to be anything but a deadline day panic buy.

At the Stade Louis II, things have not always gone to plan for Tielemans following his move from Anderlecht back in 2017.

However, he is still an individual with immense quality who has a bright future ahead of him with Leicester being the perfect place for the Belgian to impose himself.

In him and James Maddison, the Foxes now easily have two of the most talented and gifted young players in the Premier League.

Youri Tielemans

Assessing Tielemans' game, what makes him such a talented and gifted footballer is his ability near the opposition's box.

There, the Anderlecht academy product is able to create opportunities for his team-mates or trouble the goalkeeper with one of his venomous long shots.

That, however, is not the only thing Claude Puel will be getting with his new man. As well as the threat Tielemans carries going forward, the Belgium international can also be very effective in his own half and around the halfway line.

From those areas, Tielemans is capable of dictating games and spreading play with long passes out wide to the benefit of the team.

James Maddison

Maddison is not as influential as Tielemans is in deeper positions, though the 22-year-old is just as good as his new team-mate, if not better, when it comes to playing in the opposition's half.

Maddison absolutely thrives when taking up positions in between the lines where he receives the ball from before turning and dribbling or making a pass.

After a strong start to the season, his impact has since dwindled somewhat with Puel choosing to use him off the bench of late rather than utilise him from the start of games.

But, nevertheless, the former Norwich City man has shown enough signs to suggest he has a big future at the King Power with the understanding he has struck up with Jamie Vardy showing so much promise alone.

TT Verdict:

Leicester are not the most creative outfit, especially under Puel and after the departure of Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City.

Outside of Maddison, there was little creativity elsewhere in the team until the arrival of Tielemans.

Be it from deep or further forward, the Monaco loanee should be able to add a bit more invention to this Leicester side. And, alongside Maddison, bring some enjoyment to the King Power. Together, the duo are capable of developing an exciting relationship on the pitch.
